Time to get ready - for some deep sh*t The clone* is back - in full effect. When his first EP “Desire Lines” came out on Emerald & Doreen a few months ago, we were blown away by Belgian Tunnelvision’s stylistically perfect definition of old school Detroit Techno and Chicago House. There are definitely a few eternal classics on his first EP – check them out in case you haven’t done so. With his first album “Sky Swallower”, he now makes the next step and transforms his Old School roots into timeless future house with a retro touch, combining an immense amount of ideas and influences into eight new tracks, which come with six great remixes by Spirit Animal, Evil Zed, Statickman, Lenny & Nemelka and Axs. Tunnelvision’s “I’m Dreaming” is the opener of the album and tells us in a very funky way that it is “time to get ready”! Lovely old school House vibes and weird jazzed-out breakbeats are going steady when it is “High Afternoon”. And now you know, this is the Tunnelvision show. “Lost Paradise” could go on forever with its airy and chilled vibes for the early evening cocktail, then “Casinero” rolls out the red carpet for the ladies who walk in slow motion to the dancefloor while shooting the new shampoo ad, waving their curly hair in the strobo fog. “Sky Swallower” starts off with decelerated space trance and then charms with a unique Balearic Filter House mood. Then things get more serious – “Deep Feelings” starts off with a hard hitting bass drum and a minimal techno feel, before the bass line and the kick drum turn it into a funky lost love dance monster that gets soothed by celestial strings when the heartache gets too big. But life goes on, so then comes the time for the (main) hit on the album, a straight, uplifting. amazingly deep and spaced out Chicago House tune - “Goodnight Moon” – “d—d---d---dance---d—d---d-deep”, here we go, another classic! “Straight Out Congo” then is the last piece of Tunnelvision’s “Sky Swallower” opus - a Detroit techno stomper, produced after a time-trip into the Belgian Congo. What a ride and what an album. Maximum respect! Statickman turns “Goodnight Moon” into an 80s Miami Vice soundtrack and Lenny & Nemelka let it go with the pumpin’ minimal funky flow (check after 3:30, bomb!). Then “High Afternoon” gets some nice treatments: Spirit Animal gives it a warm time-stretched embrace with beautiful analogue synths and a dramaturgy that can only come from the heart. His additional vocals give create an amazing heavenly vibe – wow, one more time, masterpiece alarm, before Axs and Evil Zed shake up the space-time continuum with some funky and dubby breakbeats.
