Western Deep's 'Love Somebody' is a slow disco grind which was inspired by the late 90s french disco scene. It is a deep sound with just a sprinkling of Cassius and Kojak. Western Deep comprises of Ian Holden and Andrew Kuipers, two deep house lovers from Johannesburg's East Rand, who were looking for an outlet for their deeper sounds. Ian has been listening to and playing deep house ever since its debut in Johannesburg at 4th World. He later pursued a career in Sound Engineering and released a few deep house releases, one track with well known local/international Tribal House outfit, Afroboogie (AKA DJ Nelson And Zooloo). Andrew has been djing for the past 17 years and was influenced by the early deep house scene in the East Rand. After playing at many of Johannesburg's clubs, cafes and parties, he moved to and travelled around Europe for four years, after which he started to learn to write and record music. His first official artist release was with DSM and his forthcoming release has been on DeepStitched, later this year. The vocals for 'Love Somebody', are by Anthony Oseyem, well known for acting as the character, Hamilton Radebe, in the local TV series, Isidingo. On the music front, he penned and sung lead male vocal on the Blaque Haze hit 'Loving aint just enough' and 'Jealousy', under the pseudonym Phoenix Kayode. Tracks from his album 'Load Shedding', have been used as soundtracks in 'Jacobs Cross', ETV's six part series, Kasi Love Stories, and the feature film Ingoma.
