简介
There is a sizeable contingent of Midwest fans that will not be shocked by the sensitive language and swinging emotion bursting out of Teague Alexy and Nicholas David Mrozinski's (aka The Feelin) first collaborative project. For most, however, The New Folklore’s songwriting, originality and feel will be positively mind blowing. Putting a contemporary spin on old-time storytelling, Teague’s tales of redemption and unforeseen fulfillment with villains turned heroes and back again, prove powerful anthems that could send your spirit shadowboxing. The Feelin’ Band’s relentless swing is never overstated and Nicholas' harmonies make Teague's melodies shine a solar-powered aura of blue, bare-boned soul. One almost gets the image of an old rickety truck rolling down America’s Subway-at-every-exit highways with treasure-like quotes and melodies flying off the back at every bump while Teague and ‘The Feelin’ sit in the back smiling atop a seemingly bottomless pile of clever phrases and sharp piano lines. With his third album (in addition to his nationally touring roots project Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank) Teague’s writing has reached a level of maturity and wit few songwriters ever develop. Channeling everything from his old school hip-hop writing in high school to the Dr. Seuss books he reads his young daughter, this is a well-traveled, open-minded, 33 years young man’s lifetime of experiences, inspirations and imagination all subtly disciplined into road-tested Americana for the soul. Hard to imagine there ever being another album like The New Folklore. The New Folklore received a Best Song award for A Good Clean High (off a dirt cheap bottle of wine) at the 2009 Just Plain Folks Awards in Nashville, TN among four nominations. "Teague Alexy steps out as a buzzworthy singer/songwriter on his CD The New Folklore" -MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE - Chris Riemenschneider "Records this good--so engaging, defined by groove, and full of thoughtful words and sounds--are rare." - MNARTISTS.ORG - Chris Godsey (New Folklore review) “The New Folklore is a shining hour for the local scene and independent music all together....Not to disregard a thousand-odd songwriters but Alexy's words are just more interesting than most trying to make a living today” -DULUTH BUDGETEER NEWS
