简介

Lawson and Disorder is, at its core, the musical collaboration of three "seasoned" musicians -- songwriter, singer, and rhythm guitarist Larry Lawson, lead guitarist Joe DeCristopher, and bassist Carl Kirby. All three have had lengthy musical careers in addition to, and sometimes instead of, their day jobs. On their first album they are joined by drummer Steve Mitchell, whose bona fides extend all the way back to his performance in the Vince Guaraldi Trio that provided the music for the Charlie Brown specials. In addition, Jacob Lawson (freelance producer, accomplished composer, stellar violinist, and -- you guessed it -- Larry's cousin) has provided both the exquisite violin tracks and the steady producer's hand for this spare, elegant collection. The songs from these newcomers/old-timers begin in deep respect for the diversity of the American musical heritage. They explore love, the loving of life in all its moments, and the lovely goofiness of some of those moments. Larry's thoughtful and sophisticated lyrics reward careful listeners with deeply cohesive reflections, in musical styles including and combining folk, country, western swing, and jazz. You'll find simple love songs ("If"), torch songs ("Somehow"), reflections on the swift but gracious passage of time ("Life Never Stops"), the tenderest of goodbyes ("Lullabye"), historical fiction about the creation of western swing ("Hopped Up on Bebop), seduction songs that don't work ("Rear View Mirror"), a paean to the other guy's greener grass ("Happy Man"), and what Larry likes to describe as "The Ancient Mariner meets Aesop's Fables" ("Little Dog"). And more! You'll be amazed, we think. As one reviewer says of "Too Old to Start at the Bottom," it's a keeper! Do check out these tunes.
