Keela Kee (Born Aqueelah El-Amin) is an American female rapper and entrepreneur. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Keela started rapping at the early age of 9. She released her debut album, titled “Da Unexpected” in 2006, which sold over 1500 copies on its first day. This album features various international recording artists such as Gucci Mane, Lil Flip, Forty the Great, and Bleu Davinci of BMF. This album is still reaching success, selling a total of 30,000 copies, creating revenues through digital distribution. Shortly after the albums’ release, Keela relocated to Atlanta, GA, with her CEO, whom also happened to be one of her close friends, to further her rap career. “Da Unexpected” earned her a plaque and recognition as a successful independent artist in Atlanta. As her career began to take off, Keela was forced to return to her hometown after her CEO was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Left to start all over again, she decided to return to school and earning her Associates Degree in Criminal in 2010. Although this was a big success for her, music was her first love. In 2012, Keela decided to invest her money into her own independent company, thus Nevastop Entertainment was born. Her first mixtape “Money Neva Sleep” since 2006 was released on November 11, 2014, featuring local artist such as Hustle (her younger brother) and 1000 Bars. Since then, she also has had a successful clothing line; High Expectations Clothing Many of her lyrics are aggressive and controversial. With such rough, rugged and raw lyrics, Keela’s style is one that cannot be compared to. She is also well known and respected in the LGBT community and many neighborhoods in her hometown. With such an inspirational personality, she makes a positive impact on many of those in her city. She tells her story through her music, leaving many to relate to her.
