简介

Flipcyide takes hip-hop to heart and then some. It may actually have saved his life. Born and raised in El Paso, TX, Flipcyide found passion in hip-hop purely by accident. It began with a visit to a friend's house where he saw his first DJ set-up. Totally blown away by the sound of the record going back and forth, he began to learn the tricks of the trade, recording mix-tapes and spinning at house parties. When lead DJ, Frank, needed to opt out, Flipcyide was eager to fill in. Flip was in his twenties. It was the 90's. And he was hooked! In 1993, he joined with THE ORIGINAL K.R.O.O.K.X. and mastered his own style of scratching and mixing on the wheels of steel while bouncing in and out California, New Mexico, Texas and Minnesota. In 1994, he moved back to El Paso and joined the Army. After finishing basic training, he continued to DJ and began producing beats for other groups such as P-Town, Children ov tha Corn, and Shisttee Individualz while still producing beats for the K.R.O.O.K.X. In 1996, he placed 5th out of 1000 contestants in the Funk Master Flex DJ competition in Virginia. Amidst this success, Flip was struggling with family problems and suffering from depression. Suicide was high on his list. Flip's sister was in her mid twenties when she lost her life in a tragic car accident and his mother died from a heart attack when he was a senior in high school. Wanting no connection to his father, Flip sought family solace through his hip-hop friends. After his stint in the Army, he moved back home to El Paso and began focusing fully on the K.R.O.O.K.X and their first album, "Once Upon a Krime." It was then he started Flipcyide Productions Inc., selling beats on the side and joining forces with Eye To Eye Productions, one of El Paso's most influential and formidable hip-hop crews. He produced for 4th Dimension, Nukleus, Arkatak, and the Tha Giantz. In 2004, he had a breakdown and attempted suicide. Realizing that music was his way of life - his comfort - his rock - he bounced back stronger than ever. He began working on his own compilation CD "Last Man Standing Volume 1," under the label Golden Rule Records, an independent label launched by Eye To Eye Productions' co-founder, Albert "Tito" Diaz, and long time member Jesus Reyes. It's "bootleg" version received amazing local support. Meanwhile, he created Addictz in the Lab Productions, an Internet site geared to producing and selling beats to struggling artists, producers, DJ's, and MC's whose way of life is hip hop versus the common rappers you hear on the radio. Announcing his official retirement from DJing, Flip focused on producing. Together with Golden Rule Records and Eye To Eye Productions, he helped produce The Giantz's next album "The Beanstalk" and hooked up with artists Nameless and Double-O Click. Producing had become his heart, his love. What to expect in 2005: Currently working on his next album, "24 Tabs Volume II (My Life Story), an instrumental album based on his own real-life drama compilation, the musician's beat patterns his past relationships, the death of his mother, his own attempt at suicide, how he felt when he came out of the hospital, and how it has changed his life. It features K.R.O.O.K.X, Subconsuz, P.I.L.L.S and Arkatak. Volume I will feature his life from childhood. The Giantz "The Beanstalk" album, The Rene "Lone Star" Armijo compilation album, Nukleus "Born to Fail", Astro Jones and Nameless and production for the second Amoni Scarsayzie album, Artson, Lonzo, Tha Camp (out of California), and many, many more.
