We would like to introduce you to a very blessed and talented young man named William James. He learned the play the piano, mostly by ear, as he watched his father play in church and in the home. He traveled with his parents to churches across the state performing special music before his father’s sermons. He began writing his own songs out of necessity because he couldn’t read the music in the hymnals. Those experiences blossomed into a full-blown obsession with creating music to express his love for God and his gratitude for the gifts of Christ and salvation. His music can now be best described as an eclectic mix of the sounds he grew up listening to, in and out of the church. His influences range from neo-soul and jazz fusion artists such as Dwele or Montell Jarrett to piano based-emotion drenched music similar to Gavin Degraw, Michael W. Smith, John Legend or Smokie Norful. Yet in bridging these influences together, he has managed to create a sound unlike any of them. But more importantly, his lyrics speak straight from the heart: from painful crossroads in life, to spiritual epiphanies. His music is accessible to anyone from the oldest deacon in the church to the young soul who is searching to fill that void in his or her life. Will describes his music as his own personal introspection but general enough that anyone can relate. He hopes for nothing more than to “introduce or re-connect just one more person to a man named Jesus. He gives me these songs for a reason, and I have to believe it’s for more than just me to hear.” With one listen, you will definitely agree.
