简介
Michael Nickolas and Ray Greene, two longtime collaborators of successful bands in Boston, Ma., have now come together to record as a duo! Featuring Greene's impassioned and emotion filled vocals, coupled with the sweet and tasteful sounds of Nickolas' guitar, the two have produced what will surely become a successful recording project. It all started for the two musicians when they launched High Function, a high energy, horn-driven R&B ensemble that was one of the more popular bands to ever come out of the Boston area. As members of the group, Ray and Michael traveled extensively throughout the New England region and New York. They also went abroad, going on a three-week tour of Switzerland. The band recorded an album of all original material in Chicago with a small independent record label. The Bose Corporation solicited High Function for a marketing film to introduce its new line of speakers. The two then branched out and formed Universal Language, showing that once again they knew the right ingredients for success on the Boston music scene. Drawing upon their experience and contacts in the industry, Nickolas and Greene were able to recruit three of the best musicians in all of New England and combine with that a vision that would feature music that was both positive and uplifting. A Boston Music Award for favorite local R&B Act would be one of several highlights the band enjoyed. Performances at the Boston Garden, the Fleet Center and the World Famous House of Blues in Cambridge, Ma. further prove the band has found its way into the forefront of local R&B/Soul acts in Boston. The release of their CD entitled "One People" in 1994 was hailed by the public and critically acclaimed as a triumph by several record reviewers. Individually, Michael and Ray have also been able to showcase their skills. Greene has worked with Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. He has performed at the Reebok Humanitarian Awards, which featured Michael Stipe of R.E.M. and Peter Gabriel, and he has been on a Goodwill tour of Ghana in West Africa. Nickolas has been able to draw upon his vast knowledge of the recording studio, licensing original material for NBC television's daytime programming and self recording a CD of solo guitar works. He also appears on popular reggae recording artist Michael Rose's recent release. Having already placed the finishing touches on their first CD as a duo, Ray and Michael are now poised to show, once again, they know exactly what it takes to succeed in Boston.
