简介
Angela C. Howell has sung all over the United States and most of Europe, performing as a vocalist with many varied groups. In Manhattan, she’s performed for a plethora venues including the Knitting Factory, Le Bar Bat and Birdland, to name a few. Angela was a featured soloist for the celebrity benefit at Town Hall honoring those who died on 9/11 (9/11 Remembered). She has performed as a soloist with the Pulitzer-prize winning composer Jason Robert Brown. Recently, Angela appeared at Lincoln Center in Big Red Sun, a new piece by Georgia Stitt and John Jiler, which was an honored ASCAP finalist. Her favorite current musical projects include her solo artist performance pieces (which feature songs from her 4 solo albums) and on-going work with Howell’nHopkins, her new band. In tandem with her husband, Scott Hopkins, this group specializes in a strong mix of jazz, blues, and R&B originals. Angela regularly directs and arranges benefit concerts for the CVCC Plainfield Coffee-house Series. Her original Christmas concerts continue to sell better than any other in that area or program. Six originals off of Angela’s Daffodils album are featured in a new full-length film titled “The Beginning of the End” (a finalist in the 2004 Independent Film Festival hosted at Madison Square Garden in NYC). NPR raved about Angela’s lead vocals on The World of Pretend, a live children’s hour performance featuring the songs of Henry Cory. Angela also received very favorable reviews (Boston Globe, LA Times) for her performance in the 2000 Broadway tour of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. She has since written a one-woman musical titled Journey Through the Mind of the Rubber Band Woman, which features some of her rock/pop selections. This piece evolved after she was scouted by a Sony representative and is currently in the midst of book revisions. Favorite musical collaborations include Milton Schaffer, Bob McDonald, Lloyd T. Salisbury, Danny Madden, Milton Schaffer, Ryo Kawasaki, and of course, her father – Arthur J. Howell.
