Jazz from the machine, or how to realize a complete CD of pseudo-improvised music through the computer exclusively. This approach presented some risks: jazz music can hardly coexhist together with repetitive deterministic actions, perfect beats and accents, digital timbres either sampled or synthesized hardly support warmth and expressivity. Nevertheless, I have since long time envied the autonomy of a writer or a painter who -alone and without intermediaries- can reach a definitive creation. The ability to have total control over every step: from arrangements to selecting timbres, from improvisations to the mixing and mastering stages, was too tempting to not accept the challenge.
