简介

PUIG & Luigi Sucre are forging a unique direction for Pop music driven by their passion to bridge the Spanish and English music scenes and their multicultural backgrounds. PUIG was born Nicholas David Puig on October 8, 1993 in his family’s homeland, the Dominican Republic, a country he proudly remains in touch with through regular visits. PUIG also spent several years of his childhood in Central America, in El Salvador, as well as South America, in Colombia, as his father’s work took the family to these countries. In 2004 PUIG moved to Miami, FL where he is now developing his career as an artist. Luigi was born on August 18, 1991 in Barranquilla, Colombia and moved to Miami, Fl in 2009. In Barranquilla, Luigi began singing and performing on stage at an early age. He participated in his church choir as a drummer boy and guitarist, sang at family gatherings, and performed for his friends at parties. His performances included two songs that helped him create a following in his hometown, "Mi Bella Flor" & "Quiero" (both Spanish ballads). Luigi Sucre is a born entertainer, a quality that shines through both on and off stage. PUIG & Luigi both attended the Academy of Arts & Minds, a magnet school focused on the arts where they were both trained by highly acclaimed singer/actress/teacher Christine Alexander, considered by many to be the best vocal coach in South Florida. Under Christine’s guidance they turned their raw/natural talent into skill and participated in local talent shows and competitions. Both Luigi and PUIG are now planning to go to Miami-Dade College to study music production. After teaming up in predominantly bilingual South Florida, the duo realized a huge gap exists between the Spanish and English markets in the US. What they perceived in South Florida was the tip of the iceberg, as Hispanics have become the largest minority in the US totaling over 52 million, with a purchasing power over $1 trillion and growing rapidly. They recognized this gap when they realized their respective material were very similar in style and sentiment but differed in language: Spanish & English. In order to expand their linguistic opportunities to express themselves and bridge this gap between the English and Spanish markets, they’ve dived head-first into Spanglish. However, instead of adopting this bilingual style for a narrow genre such as bachata, reggaeton, or merengue focused primarily on the Spanish market, PUIG & Luigi are unleashing Spanglish in a new direction with much broader appeal. The duo are laying their Spanglish over commercial English market beats, making their music accessible to both the Spanish and English music scenes, transcending the narrower niches of Spanglish music to date. More importantly, their heartfelt lyrics and positive messages add an ingredient that seems to be fading in commercial Pop today: depth. Since PUIG and Luigi fused their styles and became a group they developed a following in Miami performing at the downtown 90 Degrees club and South Beach’s La Diosa Nightclub. They’ve expanded their recognition after radio plays in South Florida's non-stop music station, 99.5 Dance FM (dance995.com/wordpress/). Their new mix-tape, "Touch The Sky" is ready and the next chapter for the two young and talented Latin artists is getting brighter and bigger.
