Song Title: This Man New Release Contempory Gospel with a Triditional Flavor 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:25-27King James Version (KJV) Like most young men Oscar Weathers had a dream. A dream of fame and fortune singing R+B music on the STAX record label, home to such greats as Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Isaac Hayes and many more. In 1969 he walked and hitchhiked 905 miles from Washington D.C. to Memphis Tenn. Once there he found nothing but closed doors and disappointment. After not being able to realize his dream at STAX records He moved on to Philadelphia and got involved with the Philly sound that spawned artist like Gamble and Huff, The O’Jays, Intruders, Jerry Butler, Dusty Springfield and many more. There he began to cut records under the manage of a Disc Jockey named Georgie Woods, “The Guy with the Goods.” Three of which made the Billboard charts. Although he enjoyed some success in the secular music world, he lost so much more, he lost the rights to the songs he wrote, lost money from record sales, lost a lot of time almost died on a over dose of drugs and he almost lost his wife Veronica Beaty from Marion, SC. The bible says “train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it”(Proverbs 22:6). He remembered his praying mother and how her faith brought him through a childhood illness that required him to have five surgeries after which his doctors said he would probably be dead by the time he was 28. But thank God for a praying mother. His parents brought him up in a Christian home but at 16 he left home and left behind his faith. He and Veronica separated after two years. He left the music world broke and with a drug habit. He became an alcoholic, and homeless sleeping on the streets of Philadelphia. With some family help they moved to New Jersey to try and make their marriage work, after a while Veronica packed her clothes it seemed hopeless he could not let go of that whiskey. But before she left they went to visit Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, NJ where they both gave their hearts to Jesus Christ 41 years ago. Now after many years of growing in Christ, and getting serious about recording Gospel, he and Veronica his wife of 41 years put together a collection of Gospel music. This music is born of the Holy Spirit and he is ready to share it with the world. At age 73 Oscar weathers is ready to embark on the journey his music ministry is about to take him on and he is inviting you to join him on that journey and may it bless you “real good!” Oscar and Veronica started their own gospel record label, “A SOWER Records llc” Oscar’s first gospel CD release, This Man Not only is Jesus Christ the Mighty God, He also is The Mighty Counselor… Oscar Weathers was ordained a preacher at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church Newark New Jersey by the late Dr. Leonard Shamburger
