Paint With Music meshes visual art and music in one technological process called electro-sonic painting. Electro-sonic painting is the brainchild of artist/inventor Marcus Brown, who literally paints with music using his self-created sound-producing paintbrushes and canvases. Guitarist/software designer Nate Weidenhaft and drummer Doug Garrison collaborate with Brown, pioneering this new form of visual music.

In Paint With Music’s “The World is My Afro,” sound painter and vocalist Marcus Brown conceptually raps about the superficial and destructive nature of humans on Earth and how this problem is personally his by default. Brown’s process is unique in that he plays his own invention, the Electro-Sonic Musical Brush, which uses a combination of technologies to allow Brown to paint surfaces as well as play samples and software instruments. Along with being an exceptional artist, Brown also plays bass guitar, electric guitar, alto saxophone and vocals on this album. In Brown’s electro-sonic painting (sound painting) process, Brown samples his own musical sounds and programs them into his Electro-Sonic Musical Brush. Collaborator guitarist, software designer and sound engineer Nate Weidenhaft designs specific interactive software for Brown’s various sound painting devices. Doug Garrison, drummer for local New Orleans band The Iguanas plays on a number of tracks with Brown and Weidenhaft adding rock hop drums to the mix.
