简介

The music recorded for the release DAVID COHEN: GUITAR was composed during the first year after the loss of David’s wife Tatyana to ovarian cancer. The CD contains eleven tracks the first ten of which came from the emotional journey of living and coping in the fog of grieving. The CD is not mournful in scope or approach and is actually quite the opposite. The music is an intimate celebration of love, life and the brave battle that Tatyana put up in the face of fear, horror, pain and the torture that encompasses ovarian cancer. Produced by Phil Romeo at RMP Studios in Philadelphia, Romeo states, “David has nice thematic qualities in his music that are assimilated into his own unique style. He respects the classical & flamenco traditions but is not boxed into traditional conventions and not afraid to break away from the mold.” The CD ends with a bonus track titled Tabernacle Tea. The piece is the most stylistically different on the CD and possibly the reason it is offered as a bonus track. Cohen throughout the CD uses a custom made Pedro de Miguel, on Tabernacle Tea Cohen demonstrates his skill using a 1961 Hoboken Guilt 12-string guitar. Cohen describes the guitar as a gem found purposely hidden among very fine classical guitars in a New York guitar salon. “It was built for 12-string finger picking!” he exclaims. While the music on DAVID COHEN: GUITAR is in tribute to his wife Tatyana, the bonus track Tabernacle Tea was used for a Patient and Family Centered Care training video for Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. David remains close to the facility where his wife was treated by both volunteering and donating portions of the profits from the sale of his CD to the Friends of the Hospital of Fox Chase Cancer Center.
