Hands Up is a single that starts out with the standard resounding steady beat of that bass drum, telling your body early on that this is definitely something to move to. The strength and steadiness of that beat is accompanied early on by treble-boosted vocals, just enough to sprinkle that beat with some garnish to draw you in until that bass voice comes in. All you need to hear is that voice saying hands up and you dont need any more persuasion to come to the party. At that point, less than 15 seconds into the song, you are already hooked.

Born and bred South African Liam Naidoo, better known as SJ Liam G, is a great talent to kickstart XYPOs new label, Still Finest. Liam G cleverly mingled different levels of treble-juiced vocals alongside some soothing guitar plucking, which provided great fills to that solid beat underlying the entire single. Of course, he does mix up the beat to achieve a couple of climatic climatic peaks here and there better but fundamentally it does not detract from that classic beat, truly the backbone of the song.

The peaks were even more accentuated when the song dipped into a regressed valley in between them, halfway through the song. This is what can be called minimalistic genius! It continues to ride on the energy of the first peak and when the energy starts to dissipate, that reliable bass voice reels you back in, with the fills excellently-placed throughout the song.
