简介

nspiration, energy, craftmanship, adventure. These are a few keywords to describe this trio. The musicians have their ears wide open and their aim is to create. The goal is to play spontaneously, without preconceived ideas about how music should sound. In other words: they let the music lead them! The result is that every time they play, their compositions sound fresh and organic. The three musicians are a perfect match with their focus on the thin line where music happens. About the music: strong melodic themes are mingled with dynamic improvisations that are closely related to the written material. A lot of western and non-western music styles are used. The rich timbre of this trio is explored inventively- moving freely between orchestral and intimate sounds. In turn the group members take care of the harmonic, melodic and rhythmical component. Timuçin Sahin (Turkey 1973) moved to The Netherlands in 1992 and studied jazz guitar at the Rotterdam and Hilversum Conservatory (1992-98) where he took lessons from maarten van der Grinten, Jesse van Ruller, Joe Pass and John Abercrombie. He succesfully completed the advanced programme 2nd Phase Jazz Guitar at the Sweelinck Conservatory where he also studied composition and South Indian music. As a guitar player he performed jazz and world music at festivals and music theatres. He wrote various compositions for the ensembles of the Contemporary music through non-western techniques course. These and other compositions are performed in contemporary music festivals (1999-2000-2001). He was commissioned and composed a piece for the great ensemble "Amsterdam Percussion Group". He gave workshops about improvisation in Amsterdam Conservatory and Amsterdam Music School. Oene van Geel (1973) studied violin and composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory. At the Conservatory of Amsterdam he is now attending the 'New contemporary music through non-western techniques' course, which focuses on a combination of comtemporary western music and classical South Indian music. Whether he is playing the violin, viola or even percussion, Oene van Geel is always trying to integrate elements of style from different musical traditions into his own music, such as jazz, funk, (contemporary) classical music as well as traditional music from all over the world. He founded several ensembles, of which jazz quintet 'GEEL!' won the 1998 Dutch Jazz Contest and was runner up in the Getxo International Jazz Contest (Spain). In 1997 he won the Amersfoort Jazz Festival Competition Contest. Furthermore, he participated in many CD projects, toured around Europe and the Dutch Antilles, composed for and played in multidisciplinary projects with dancers, actors and (animation) film. On the 25th of oktober 2000 he won the Jur Naessens muziekprijs with his group Mosaic. Albert van Veenendaal (1956) studied piano at the Amsterdam Conservatory. In 1982 he won the Meervaart Jazz Competition with saxophone player Dick de Graaf. Since that time he works with Dutch and international jazz, classical and world mucicians. He has been the founder of his own trio and septet and also played solo piano recitals. He composed and played in theatre productions and with ballet companies and he works as a composer/arranger/producer for various CD projects. In 1999 he toured with his trio Pavlov and two female singers in a Sinatra project. In 2001 he played with his 4-piano quartet. Albert also works as a music teacher and twice a year he organizes a festival in the field of music and arts.
