James Morrissey Unsung I remember a friend of mine in Ontario giving me a guitar when I was moving to Alberta. He said the guitar was going to be my new best friend. True that. I’ve since given that guitar to someone else who needed it. It seemed like the right thing to do. I write songs. I don't admit that very often. I like to keep to myself with music. It’s my story telling, my creative outlet, and my therapy. I’ve been writing songs for close to 20 years. In the basement. Underground. My friend Scott takes me out of my comfort zone every few years and we play in front of people, in bars and hosting open stage with Chris Wynters. But playing in front of people is rare. And recently it has become fun. And often. With the generous financial support of Rawlco Radio, and the incredible people I got to hang out with at the recording studio, I have cobbled together 10 original songs for you to listen to. Some are old, most are new, and most have been heard by a very slim group of trusted friends. So this is a coming out of the basement. This album is called Unsung because my music is for the most part secret or uncelebrated. I hope you like the songs.
