简介

Check our other releases for details of these artists - former 'Argent' frontman JOHN VERITY working here with some of his favourite musicians in an unplugged live performance of popular material arranged exclusively for this show... lots more info and details of our other albums/ merchandise at www.johnverity.com “... I never knew John Verity before this evening and we still haven’t really spoken, but I came away feeling like he’s an old bosom buddy... He has this effect on you, this laughing gnome with a voice like the whispered affection of angels. Go see him, you’ll be impressed, honestly”. (David Galbraith – Kerrang!) John Verity has had a varied, amazing career to date, including support dates with rock luminaries such as JIMI HENDRIX, JANIS JOPLIN, THE WHO, JOHN MAYALL’S BLUESBREAKERS, and MOUNTAIN, to recording dates with RINGO STARR, KEITH EMERSON, GREG LAKE, TIM ROSE, ZOMBIES, COLIN BLUNSTONE, PHOENIX, CHARLIE, and ARGENT to name but a few... Back for 2010 with a brand new album ‘VERITY – rise like the phoenix’, a new 'Unplugged & Unhinged' album and a touring schedule which includes both unplugged and electric shows. Probably best known for his time as lead vocalist and guitarist with legendary 70’s icons ARGENT, JV has since recorded and toured constantly with his solo projects and collaborations both in and out of the studio. Sample the music at www.johnverity.com Mark Griffith’s first professional music was as lead guitarist with Matthew's Southern Comfort. The group stayed together for three years in the early 1970s touring Europe and the USA as well as recording five albums and had a worldwide hit with their version of Joni Mitchell's song "Woodstock". Later in the 70s, Mark took up bass and toured and recorded with many well known stars including being a member of Cliff Richard's backing band from 1981. During the 90s, Mark continued his Shadows connection, working with Hank Marvin on all his solo albums as well as being the regular bassist in his backing band on tour. Mark provided the arrangements for several of Hank's recent work. It was around this time that Mark & JV first started working together – Mark has filled bass-playing duties in the JV Band & Phoenix with JV & Bob Henrit ever since whenever other commitments have allowed. More recently Mark has also featured in John’s Unplugged line-up, again whenever available – the Unplugged & Unhinged project has a fluid line-up just as the JV has had over the years, though luckily Mark was available for the gig the night that these recordings were captured – ‘Unplugged & Unhinged again! (live)’!! Jeff Dakin started playing at the tender age of 40 (life begins at 40 and all that stuff) after having £50 given to him by friends in a card. ‘I must do something meaningful and keep me off the streets!’ So without delay he went down the music shop to buy himself a tuition video with a free harmonica and the rest is history as they say, ‘but not without meeting a lot of really talented friendly helpful people along the way that have amazed and inspired me’. Jeff takes up the story: "There have been many people that have influenced me, Doug Tate, a Chromatic Harmonica player who taught me the importance of tone, Steve Lockwood who just made me realise I can do this! My biggest influence has got to be Paul lamb, I was bowled over the fist time I saw him play, and his influences are the older guys such as Sonny Terry, Big Walter Horton and so on, but his playing is like a hybrid of all the older players and I just wanted to play like Paul. Brendan Power is a terrific player who has made me realise there is more to the Harmonica than the blues, he is the biggest influence for me to start re-tuning harmonicas and playing different styles." Jeff plays; Hohner, Lee Oskar, Suzuki, Herring Harmonicas usually through a Marble Bluesonic amp – he has recorded for a TV show called The House that Jack Built starring Adam Faith. "I have worked with some great musicians and recorded for Max Milligan, students at Bedford Modern School (for music tech) & Cherry Lee Mewis also played some great venues such as the Shetland Blues Festival, with the King Bees, Wavandon Stables, Cambridge Rock Festival and the Clapham Music Rhythm Festival (or whatever its called). I enjoy working with John Verity and his laid back relaxed approach when we play - think that feel comes out in the music we play." Long may it continue…
