简介

This bright new artist may be new to the Jazz scene in the public eye but, by no means new to the music and film industry. Perry started playing the saxophone at the age of 10, then picking up the flute and piano later in high school. Drawing inspirations from a mom that was a singer and a grandfather who played classical violin, from Paganini to Kreisler. At the age of 16, he became friends with Michael and Randy Brecker, taking Michael's advice to move to New York and study with Harvey Estrin. During his time in NYC to further his studies, Perry found himself at Seventh Ave South (owned by the Brecker Bros.) almost every night soaking in all the music of some of the world's greatest musicians. A few years later when moving out to California, he started performing with 50's acts "The Sherrills, The Coasters, Little Anthony, Bobby Lewis & Mary Wells. had the pleasure to work with Jimmy Lyon (Eddie Money), Davey Johnstone (Elton John), Andy Martin, Wayne Bergeron, Don Markese, and Joel Peskin, Perry worked with Gil Melle' for many years, releasing a Cd titled Equatorial Man and a DVD showcasing Gil's artwork. Perry also shared the stage with Chuck Mangione, Jim Wheeler (Kenny Loggins), Basil Fung, Lance Morrison, Matt Laug (Alanis Morissette). John Rotondi, Ricky Z. the list goes on….. Perry has found enjoyment in LA working for DreamWorks as a composer and has experience in post production (editing audio, ADR, sound design & efx) at 20th Century Fox and MGM, these experiences, the discipline and work ethic gained from them, would prove to be a great testing ground for a future career in the industry. After a decade of work and a computer full of musical ideas, it was time to pick up the saxophones and have some fun performing again. Perry has compiled all original music for you on his latest CD release. Playing all the instruments, producing, arranging, and mixing all 11 songs, featuring some of the greatest musicians, such as Keyboardist/Composer Gil Melle' who performed on the track Thrill Me. Joel Peskin, Ricky Z., Rayford Gilliard, Harold Zinno & Michael Cammarata. Mister Myth Bamboo brings you a special variety of styles from smooth jazz, fusion, contemporary jazz, blues, and funk. The opener titled Funky See Funky Do, offers just that, it's funky and fun, receiving great reviews and features a sizzling guitar solo by Ricky Z. Just A Reminder brings a beautiful smooth jazz performance on the soprano sax, full of colors reminding us of the celebration of life. Last Exit came to him while driving home late one night, giving you the feeling of reflective lights and the contemplation of thoughts. This is one story everyone will want to hear. For What Goes Up (must come down) a straight-ahead Jazz style tune with a surprise rhythmic kick in the bridge, supports a beautiful performance by Harold Zinno on Flugelhorn and a wonderful accompaniment by Michael Cammarata on Piano. The track titled Colors Of Seasons gives an ongoing commitment to development as an artist and composer, with a powerful tune that kicks up into high gear, delivering a energetic emotional tenor sax solo. Island Sands, let's you dance on the sands of Jamaica, with this fun Caribbean song. You'll hear a full arrangement of saxophones, trumpets, flutes, clarinets and even a recorder is added for color. Smoke Filled… features Joel Peskin on a smooth sub-tone blues tune that has a sound out of the 1930's. If you want to go back in time to pay tribute to the fathers of early jazz, this is the track. Let It All Out is a funky, upbeat groove, a clap along with piano and sax trading the melody, along with Grooved Pavement that has a fantastic ska beat that will get you out of your seat, Thrill Me rolls with a riveting tight horn arrangement with harmonies of old school 70's style funk. Featuring Gil Melle' playing (keyboards) one of the funkiest lines ever. This is one of Gil's last performances, and when I look back on it..... We were just having too much fun. To complete the CD, it journeys into a beautiful ballad on soprano sax with (co/writer) Rayford Gilliard on bass, called Reachin' Out . It reaches out to you, it caresses you, with a very sweet emotional duet. Each track offers something for everyone to enjoy, reflecting the diverse commitment to explore the fusion of musical styles in a jazz medium.
