The Band: Shame music is a unique hybrid of powerful melodies and sincere storytelling. They possess 'the ability to write songs that people can relate to and feelings that can be attested for.' Shame's conception occurred in the suburbs of Reading, PA. Two school friends, Peter Errich and Brian Rutolo, began creating music together in the study halls of Wilson Junior High School. In their senior year of high school, they began performing in the local clubs of Reading with a band they had assembled. Shame's music was well-received by the public and they soon 'established a reputation for writing songs with depth and a keen sense of melody.' This positive response prompted the guys to release Seeking Shelter, a collection of songs which displayed the fledgling band's talent and potential for dynamic songwriting. A track contained on this record, 'Losing Time,' was included in the independent film 'Asphalt Junkie.' This film facilitated more recognition for the young musicians and illustrated how the emotion of their music could be applied in different art forms. After the completion of high school, Shame toured regionally in the tri-state area and self-financed a tour of northwestern England. This extensive performing was done to support the band's sophomore record entitled Shades of Grey. Their hard work did not go unnoticed; radio and television began to support the 'kids' from Reading, PA. Extensive airplay and a performance on NBC's '12:30 Live' helped catapult Shame to one of the most renowned musical acts in the region. It was soon time to go back into the studio and create another record. Completed in the spring of 1999, Pop 20 was made available to a public who highly anticipated its release. It was a departure from the previous album; however, it stood on its own merit. The band supported this record with the same work ethic as their past endeavors and their fan base grew rapidly. Shame shared the stage with notable performers, such as: Beth Hart, Jon Faye (The Caulfieldst, Wanderlust, and local favorites The Badlees. However proud they were of past accomplishments, Brian and Peter decided a period of transition was necessary for the betterment of the music. At this juncture, they witnessed the departure of some of their band mates and took a much-needed hiatus from the scene. Despite their temporary absence from performing, Shame had once again gone back into the studio to record 'Late Last Night,' a record of new material which chronicles the individual and musical journeys of Peter Errich and Brian Rutolo. This album reminds listeners of the sincerity and power contained in their music and the emotion and empathy it can evoke. Currently, Shame has returned to the club circuit with the return of Mike Noecker, and the addition of Keith Knowles, both of whom bring their own song-writing style and musical talent to the group. Shame has returned with new energy and force. They are back!!!
