The album was a long time in the making. For many years people asked me to create an album of music for quite time. Though very flattered by their requests I never felt good enough to do something like this. I struggled with my identity and and what other, better musicians would think once I released it. Releasing something like this places you in a very vulnerable place where people can scrutinize your gifts and abilities. Many times we attribute those gifts and abilities as something that is indicative of who we are and to have those things analyzed by people makes us feel as if they are analyzing our character. In 2014 the Lord took me on a journey of discovering who I was in Him and learning that who I am in Him is the only true identity that we have. Everything else is just not important. I began to realize that His creating me was because He wanted relationship with me not because I was supposed to be a flawless musician. When I began the process of recording this album I decided that it would be an album where I sat down and played with out planning out what I was going to play. I would then go through the song and correct any mistakes that I made but this thought changed one day when the idea of calling the album "The Journey" was given to me. I decided not to correct the mistakes. In life when we are on our journey, we make mistakes. Many times there isn't a way to correct those mistakes. We have to live with the mistakes that we make and they become a part of our story. The mistakes don't define us and shouldn't be looked on as shameful but as a tool that we can use to encourage and challenge others. "The Journey" is about going to through life in relationship with our Creator and learning to accept who we are no matter what mistakes we have made. Each one of us has a unique journey. We should celebrate the uniqueness and walk in boldness and confidence of who we are.
