简介
Dani and I got married in 2011 and knew immediately we wanted to make a career out of artistry. We've both been singing, writing, and performing all over the country long before we ever knew each other. We started writing this concept album quite spontaneously in 2010 with the song "Pilgrim," penned in the mountains of northwest Mexico, about 10 miles south of the border and the best tacos we've tasted to date (Tacos Dumas in Tecate). Since then, we've been saving our pennies, writing, and working hard to make this record all that it can be. Here's the back story, if you're not familiar: John Bunyan was a lay preacher in 17th-century England when it was illegal to preach anywhere without an ordination license. He was thrown in prison for his refusal to submit to the state's control over the church, and wrote The Pilgrim's Progress from a jail cell in Bedford, England (hence the name) as something of a sermon-meets-allegory of a pilgrim's journey through life and faith. In the centuries since, it has gone on to be the best-selling book in the English language second only to the Bible, and it seemed a fitting way to launch our career and first full-length record as artists together. The music styles range from R&B to raw acoustic and folk tunes to rock and worship anthems that touch on almost every rhythm of life. The story chronicles the journey of the Pilgrim in joy, sorrow, love, temptation, despair, fear, and hope. We hope you'll like it!
