The Meller Band is a fictional pop group, but for us this is true. The story began in the mid sixties, and the band still exist. Band members: Ron Meller and Dan Martin (both artist name). Key words: Norwegian success duo, the best-selling Norwegian pop band, number one hits over the decades, their harmony singing is well known. Slogan: "Songs you know but have never heard"! "Decades of Number One Hits", volume one, is a greatest hits album containing your favorite songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The sound and expression is similar to bands like The Beatles, The Hollies, 10cc, Supertramp, Bee Gees, Roxy Music and Chicago. So take a seat and enjoy the ride in The Meller Adventure! The Meller Band is: Ron Meller and Dan Martin (Rolf Møller and Dag Frode Helgestad). All music and lyrics by Ron Meller. Reached 2nd place on «Tio i Topp» in Sweden in April, after Hep Stars’ «Sunny Girl». LET ME TELL YOU Recorded July and August 1966. No 1 on UK Top 40 the 20th of September, but replaced five weeks later by The Four Tops. No 1 in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Top 10 in many European countries. CONDITION OF LOVE Recorded in London September 1967. No 1 on Billboard Top 100 October 21th, with a total of five weeks. No 1 in UK, Scandinavia, Germany, BeNeLux, Italy, Spain, Canada and Australia. Top 10 in number of countries. IT’S ALRIGHT Recorded live in studio in Oslo the 20th of July 1969, which was about 20 years before the ‘unplugged’ phenomenon. It was an excited mood in the studio, just few hours before Armstrong took his first step on the moon! No 1 in UK the 24th of August (one week), Scandinavia and Germany. Top 10 in some countries. MY TIME Recorded May and June 1971. No 1 in Germany, Top 10 in Scandinavia. Replaced Danyel Gerards «Butterfly» the 26th of August 1971 on German’s Top 20 (six weeks as the number one). PLAYING THIS GAME Recorded April 1976. No 1 in Scandinavia, France and Spain for one week the summer of ’76. Top 10 in UK and many other countries. Abba dominated the charts this year. Playing this game was nominated for The Grammy Award ‘song of the year’ (the winner was Bruce Johnsons’ «I Write The Songs» performed by Barry Manilow). GET INTO Recorded September 1977. No 1 on Billboard Top 100 the 3rd of December for 3 weeks. No 1 on Billboard Top Dance Chart in December 1977 and January the following year. Made Top 10 in many European countries, but did not peak to number one. Anyway, this was the only disco song from The Meller Band. HARMONY The title song from the soundtrack of the movie ‘Harmony’. The movie was most successful in the US and Europe the autumn of 1978. No 1 in UK, Scandinavia and Japan. Top 10 in US and Australia. Nominated for Oscar, the 51st Academy Award with ‘Best original song’. The winner was «Last Dance» from ‘Thank God it’s Friday. SUMMER BY THE SEA Recorded Easter 1982. Top 10 in many countries. The first single that did not enter as No 1 in one country, but No 1 on the European Top 100 for five weeks during June and July. The song is one of the most famous ‘summer songs’ ever. THIS PLACE Recorded January and February 1983. No 1 on Billboard Top 100 for one week in April the same year. Top 10 in France, Italy, Spain, Canada and Scandinavia.
