Clark Notes from Patrick: I wanted to follow up my last EP, Jump In, with something a little more up beat and less dark. I knew I wasn't done with the themes from Jump In; loneliness and despair. but it was time to examine it from a different standpoint, to learn how to turn the weaknesses into strengths and examine the importance of anger, betrayal, and hopelessness, and use the songs that I have written that may help turn these emotions into growth. This is also the first time I am covering a song from one of my favorite artists. When i perform Marrow, it becomes a sort of interpretive dance for my voice that I use to express certain feelings that gives me more freedom than I can have with my own songs. Isn't It Obvious is a song that I originally started writing in 1999; it eventually evolved into it's current incarnation in 2007; and I finally created the right project that it fits into. I am happy to finally have it out in the world in all it's glory, and not just a 30 second live Youtube clip. Closing The House Of Black and He's Fantastic were both written in the latter part of 2009. Closing,,, is a song I've been performing live for the past 2 years, but He's Fantastic is something I've been holding onto until it was right to put it out there. Crystal Blue was the catalyst for beginning to work on this record. It was written early 2011 and ended up being a major turning point in the way that I see myself and what my music should mean to me. I worked with some excellent musicians in the past year to make this record sound the best that I was able to, and I'm hoping to work on Good Morning/Good Evening pt2 very soon.
