In the Fall of 2007, artist/producer Ty Real burst on the scene with his debut single ‘Big Bucket’ and things just ain’t been the same since. From a producer stand point, Ty Real was tired of the borders that divide hip-hop, r&b, pop and rock, especially since he was excellent at all of them. Born and raised in New York City, Ty was introduced to a vast array of music early on in life. He spent most of his childhood in foster care and as a teenager growing up in group homes. It was there that he was exposed to different kinds of people, cultures and many styles of music. As a child, Ty would make up songs and perform in school talent shows. But it was hearing Rakim for the first time that changed his life forever. “I felt like hip hop gave me a voice. When I had no family, no food and no money and just going through it, music (and hip hop in particular) was my salvation." Ty got to work honing his writing and rhyming skills. Realizing that he didn’t have the means and opportunity to get the hottest producers of that time give him tracks he decided to become one. With no family or financial support, it seemed unlikely he would reach his dreams. However, Ty’s unrelenting passion and will made a way. “I went to Macy’s & Sam Ash everyday for a year just teaching myself how to play and program keyboards & drum machines. Yeah, I got kicked out…but I always came back the next day.” All that hard work paid off, as Ty was able to secure a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing. Since then, Ty has worked with some heavy-hitters, such as…Beyonce, Pink, Three 6 Mafia & 3LW & Lil Flip. In 2004, Ty Real struck gold with his production of “F.U.R.B.a/k/a ‘F.U. Right Back’”, which went to 1 on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop Singles Sales Chart & 27 on Billboard’s 2004 Hot 100 Singles Year-End chart. It also sold a half a million ring tones and reached a radio audience of over 114 million listeners. After enjoying his success as a producer, Ty Real has returned to his first love, rhyming. He started assembling his debut album tentatively titled ‘The Saga Begins…’ His fist single ‘Big Bucket’ is receiving wide-spread acclaim with its infectious rock/hip hop fusion that he affectionately calls ‘Hood Rock’. “I think there’s too much separation of genres” says Ty, “Cuz I’m a black kid from NY, I’m supposed to sound a certain way? I feel like it’s a must that I share all my musical influences with the world and in turn inspire others to just be themselves.” Ty’s soulful yet, blazing beats, along with his passion-filled vocals is something music is sorely missing.
