I'm a folk/progressive rock guitarist, trying to cram Yes, Genesis and Gentle Giant onto one guitar, with varying success! My degree in music involved a lot of counterpoint, so that features in the songs, too. Mostly, I just try to craft evocative lyrics with a good melody.
