Dionne Warwick did a sweeter version the next year, and Aretha and a slew of other people did covers as well. I'm not extremely fond of most of them. Many of the performances are ...cold, distant. It's like they don't really understand the words; like karaoke in another language; like reading Shakespeare in High School, before you'd ever been (or even thought you were) in love.
