LaTonya is a songwriter and independent Christian recording artist. She has been singing since the age of 2. She was born and raised in Chicago and is currently raising her two sons in Georgia. She is a psalmist that plays the acoustic guitar and sings. She has recorded two CD’s: “Victorious” (the most recent) and “Prodigal Son,” released in 2004. Two of her songs, “How Can I” and “Hold On,” were produced by Floyd Thomas, keyboard player for J.Moss. LaTonya has ministered at numerous churches and events throughout Chicago, Indiana, Michigan, and in the Greater Atlanta area. LaTonya is a Praise and Worship Leader and is very passionate about her music ministry. She also enjoys reaching out and mentoring young people. After attending Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, LaTonya graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education minoring in Mathematics and Language Arts. She spent 3 and a half years mentoring and teaching Mathematics in Benton Harbor, MIichigan, an impoverished community, and built lifelong relationships with many of her students. She wanted to do something positive in the Benton Harbor community and encourage the kids to strive for success. She published 3 books collaboratively written and illustrated by 10 of her former students. She later relocated to the Greater Atlanta area in Georgia and taught Middle School Mathematics for one year before getting laid off. Since then, LaTonya has been pursuing her music ministry full time and working towards starting a non-profit organization where youth can come after school and receive academic services and engage in social and athletic activities. LaTonya wants to do great things in the community to help better our society!
