McKnife is a 2011-2012 Zimbabwe Hip-Hop Award accolade nominee and winner of the Best New -Comer category and for his production work with fellow UK based Zimbabwean rapper Karizma. As much as he is one of the best producers out of Zimbabwe to producer music which can be consumed by ears on a international scale.McKnife is also a seasoned rapper and songwriter and is one of the first Zimbabwean rapper to have his music "Party All Night" played on a United Kingdom national radio station NE1fm by Wayne C McDonald a highly respected international producer,disc jockey and songwriter who has worked with international artists such as Musiq SoulChild, Kelly Rowland, Ryan Leslie , Talay Riley just to mention a few. The beauty of McKnife’s talent is his ability to produce his own beats, arrange, write and master his own music material an asset only a few artists in the world can do. At the moment McKnife is enjoying more international airplay with radio stations in France, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola and Gambia playing one of his songs titled “African Sunshine”, which seems to have been received well in the AfroBeats/Azonto music scene. Other Freshbouy McKnife's songs enjoying the International exposure are "Get to Know You", "Party All Night", "Magic Moments", "Be A Superstar" and "I Glow". Born Tinashe Mubanga, Mcknife recorded his first single titled"Cant Stop" in 2009 which received positive feedback from local music critics in Zimbabwe. A lot of people do not know that he started music as a Rapper but explored beat production after taking music classes in high school. In July 2011 he released his first compilation "IT IS WHAT IT IS” mix-tape volume 1" which he co-produced with DJ Xlay. The 12 track mix-tape managed to get radio play for over a year which resulted in him being nominated "Best New Comer" at the 2011 Zimbabwe Hip -Hop Awards. In April 2012, Freshbouy Mcknife collaborated with another well nourished Zimbabwean rapper Karizma to release a joint mix-tape project called"No Introductionz" which stamped them as the most influential rappers in the Zimbabwean hip-hop scene. The project managed to get national and regional radio play and also got a nomination at the Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards 2012. In Oct 2012, McKnife he produced the "Maneta Riddim" a reggae and dancehall beat production which saw him collaborate with the Drum-Dada aka Fada WeMangoma one of Zimbabwe’s fast rising reggae/ zim-dancehall musicians. The production marked was inspired by an altercation between Zimbabwean socialites Maneta Mazanhi and Rockford Josphat during the Big Brother Africa reality television show. Betty Makoni, a Zimbabwe women’s right with women’s right activist branded the project controversial citing that it promoted gender violence, a view which was played down by a lot of Zimbabweans music lovers. Despite the controversy, the production still managed to get radio play and was a hit Zimbabwean dancehall fans. Mcknife’s production and rapping resume includes working on local and international projects with artists such as Tag Team, Albie Stylez, Xndr (Team Rehab), Mc Cut & Darkface, Errol Gladman.
