John Hill is a singer songwriter residing near Ashland, OR. He has been a performing artist for many years, in various forms from contemporary folk, to a ten years diversion, starting in 2000' to Irish rhythm guitar and fiddle which led him to form a band called "The Mighty Bog Frogs". Also along the way of this diversion he tried his hand at some professional stage acting. Years ago, in 1994' he opened for the music legend John Fahey and more recently contemporary artist Sean Hayes. He has performed recently at the Britt, the 2012 Florence Winter Folk festival, 2011 and 2012 Prospect Folk Festival and as a musical actor, he was a player in a couple of shows for the Oregon Cabaret Theater, a professional Cabaret in Ashland, OR. His debut album "Across the Field of Dreams", was completed 1/11'. This recent collection, "Folk & Americana Blues", was completed in 5/13' and entirely self produced. On it he sings, plays electric and acoustic slide guitar, acoustic six string guitar, electric guitar, mandolin and harmonica and keyboard. Seven of these thirteen songs are original works and the entire album was produced in his living room after the trucks and cars and screaming neighborhood children went to sleep for the night. While currently looking in the direction of his next album, John is enjoying life in southern Oregon where he hang glides, hikes and writes and records his music. Being a trained violin maker, he also takes on the occasional repair work as well. John is enjoying his musical comeback in the last couple of years and has become a favorite and sought after performer at popular clubs and wineries in the Southern, OR as well as the Oregon coast and Portland area.
