简介
Following in the same musical vein as his musical work on Kimspirational's "YES! YES! YES!" CD, Glen Burg returns to his keyboard for an instrumental shamanic voyage of over an hour in length. "Inner Contacts" is the first release to explore Glen's newfound interest in Simple Calming Music, or as he puts it: "Music with enough detail to retain focus, and yet with enough space to keep the mind free." Soothing musical notes and chords are accompanied by recurring sounds evoking birds, dolphins, seagulls, dragonflies, wind, water, and whales. Each composition has its own style and identity, yet all remain true to the Simple Calming Music motto. The entire album was recorded in "musical hermitage" at Plage Saint Pierre Beach and Campground, overlooking both the forest and the sea. The first notes were recorded in August 2014, during peak summer weather; the entire album is evocative of the soothing warmth of summertime by the seashore, amidst the tranquility of semi-seclusion. The process recurringly relied on stream-of-consciousness performance: most of the tracks were first divined during the recording process, and then further fleshed out through overdubbing (with the first track, "Tree of Life", performed live to recorder on the first take, with absolutely no overdubs). Still, distinct melodies and chords can still be heard throughout the album, from the more straightforward "Seagull" and "Dolphin", to the vast, spacious and impressionistic "Whale". While there is a welcome stylistic variety amongst the pieces on the album (a relative rarity in the New Age genre), all combine to create a calming, relaxing and focusing listening experience. Conducive to work, rest, and travel, "Inner Contacts" is an album which moves to give the mind both the space and focus which merits the term, "Simple Calming Music".
