简介
This album harkens back to the sound of the classic rockers. They were the inspiration for the styles of playing and instrumentation featured on these songs. There are typically a lot of guitar tracks on each tune, and a rock feel to the rhythm section. You will hear acoustics, 12 strings, clean, crunchy, slide, harmonies, solos and an overall enjoyment for guitar playing and rock music in general. A couple of the songs on this album were featured on my first real demo 'Cominatcha' in 2002. The Title track 'Wind Under Sail' and 'One Who Knows' were part of that demo. They were completely re-recorded and appear on this album. 'Wind Under Sail' also became the inspiration for the album concept as a whole. The message of the song is to call attention to your own strengths and inspiration to be the best you can be and set out to achieve your goals no matter how daunting the tasks may be to get there. 'One Who Knows' also embraces that concept as reminds us as individuals that we are the ones who know what is best for ourselves deep down inside. Often times we are encouraged to stray away from following our dreams, and to be confident that you know where you want to be. 'Familiar Face' is one of my favorite tracks on the album. It started as a quirky 7/8 beat that ended up telling the story of how I met a true professional classic rocker whom I did not recognize at first. After seeing him on the golf course, and walked over to me to say hello - I sort of brushed him off like I was the real rock and roller. Only later to find out that he was the real deal and a super nice guy that I never saw again. 'Danvers Nights' is a track that tells the tale of how I met my wife at a friends Halloween bash. Coincidentally, 'The Nation', a local North Shore cover and originals group that I played with for 10 years was hired to perform at an old fashioned rocking house party. I like to think of it as this albums country/rock ballad. 'I Told You So' and 'Midnite Blue' were both inspired by a life changing event that took place in my teen years. 'I Told You So' describing taking bad advice from friends and later regretting the decision. 'Midnite Blue' describing the very fast and beautiful mustang where the bad advice ended up. 'Shuffle Mode' is a song about successful north shore cover band that I still play in to date. It is a fun tune that talks about gigging around town and having a great time with a great group of musicians. My wife is on background vocals and is a pleasure to hear another voice on the album. If you see 'Shuffle Mode' on a marquee in or around Boston - go see them. 'Turn The Corner' is another tune inspiring us to turn corners down the hallways of life, to keep on moving forward and to be inspired what you do. Finally 'Traffic' is a rock tune describing my disdain for traffic while driving into work every day. It is my kids' favorite song and they love to sing it which makes me happy. The best part of this tune is my brother Ross ripping the dueling solos at the end which takes the album to its close. Over the years I have had the opportunity to play and perform with many local musicians in the Boston area and have learned from all of them in some way or another. Taking all of those years gigging and recording with so many talented people definitely helped me to hone in and focus on my own playing and recording techniques. Having an open ear, a desire to create commercially viable music, and support from my family is what made this CD possible.
