简介
The duo of Robin Roberts and Billie Preston have been sharing their unique style of smooth harmonies, banjo and finger-style guitar for several years now. They decided to record a live CD that was more representative of songs they might play on any given night. So on November 9, 2013, in a place known as The Underground, in Wichita, KS, they recorded eighteen songs that include a number of originals, a few covers, and some traditional tunes. Included on the CD are original songs written by Robin whose story comes from the Flint Hills of Kansas, like "Bazaar Cemetery", just west of the town of Bazaar, KS and "Pie Fixes Everything", which we learned at the Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls, KS. There is a novelty song about a guy named Harley who just wants to have a lot of fun, and haunting, true to life songs like "I Tried to Kill Myself". The CD features the folksinger Billie Preston finger picking the guitar and singing Joni Michell's "Both Sides Now" and other favorites, as well as Scott Piper playing the violin. There is over an hour of music on this CD that covers a wide variety of styles and tempos to keep you thinking and listening. And if only for the great cover art by Flint Hills photographer Bruce Hogle it would be worth the price. So take a listen and enjoy the artwork, and the music of Robin Roberts and Billie Preston.
