简介
Saturn Valley formed in 2013 when guitarist Nick Jones joined the jam trio of bassist Charlie Ferrell, drummer Zach Webster and keyboardist Chris Freiberg. Christian McDaniel officially signed on for percussion shortly after, completing the group's current instrument line-up. After recording their first album which was released in November 2014, local Athens musician Scott Andrews took over on bass. Hailing from the fertile, music hub of Athens, Ga., the band quickly developed a distinct, improvisatory style with jazz, funk, synth-pop and heavy prog influences. Their debut album, "On The Rings," is a fully instrumental project that features a collaboration of ideas the band has produced over their first year. The song "Odysseus" was selected for the 2015 AthFest Compilation Album, among other music from other Athens favorites such as Reptar, The Whigs and T. Hardy Morris. The group is currently working toward releasing their second studio album, "Cartographer," in the fall of 2015. With heavy, space-grooves and synth-laden jams, a Valley show is always sure to be a unique, cosmic experience.
