简介

Carleen's desire to leave a lasting legacy to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the impetus for this album. Having studied classical music from ages 8-16, she put away her "violin" and went to college to become an elementary school teacher. She taught 1st through 3rd grades, married, and raised 3 children while the violin was stored away. After the children were grown and had given her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she dusted off her violin and turned it into a "fiddle", taking music lessons from Shelby Eicher, (who accompanies her on several different stringed instruments on this album). Although Shelby taught her to play "Irish Jigs", she learned the Scottish style by listening to other Scottish fiddlers' CDs, and by studying for 3 summer camps under her "Cape Breton style idol", Natalie McMaster. And by practicing Natalie's teaching videos, as well as other artists such as Alisdair Fraser, and Bonnie Rideout, Carleen was largely "self-motivated", and somewhat "self-taught" by her love of this genre of music. The recording sessions were encouraged along to have the album finished in time to give to her 3 children as a surprise Christmas gift! To get the album produced required a minimum purchase of 100 albums. The 100 were given or sold so quickly that, to save time and cost, she ordered the "fast-track" production of 1000. After selling over 200 more, family circumstances halted the attempt to sell any more and required relocation of residence, email, and phone contact. Finally her personal life has stabilized and she's back in the business of sharing her love of Scottish music with anyone willing to listen.
