简介
Murray McEachern was an instrumental savant-a gifted performer who mastered brass, woodwinds, violin, and percussion. While on staff with the NBC Radio Orchestra in Hollywood, McEachern and studio guitarist Bob Bain (http://www.vintageguitar.com/30483/telecaster-bob-bain/) rehearsed during breaks, in quiet hallways or empty rooms, and arranged the tunes we hear on "Sleepwalkers". Using the then cutting-edge studio technology of recording in "multiples" (performing along with a prerecorded tape, a process conceived prior to the invention of multitrack tape), McEachern created this tour-de-force album of both standards and originals. With its striking, provocative cover and liner notes by popular songwriter Hoagy Carmichael the album was released to great acclaim, recognized critically and by the Audio Library at The White House, as well as being placed in the distinguished collection of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Musicians hailed McEachern's superb performances and the stunning arrangements of familiar classic songs. Critics universally recognized the remarkable accomplishment of both technical achievement and virtuosic playing. The master tape was stored and languished unheard for years, until this reissue (under the enthusiastic encouragement of legendary guitarist Bob Bain himself) made available this soaring, exquisite work of art. Featuring the original Hoagy Carmichael notes, reminiscent artwork and additional portraits of both McEchearn and Bain, this exceptional masterpiece is at long last available to savor and enjoy once again.
