简介
Violet Natroon is a three piece instrumental band from Milwaukee, WI. To say they sound like any one thing would be a lie. Their purpose is to take you somewhere you’ve never been. Violet Natroon sounds like many things, therefore to categorize it into genre is simply too difficult; though they strive to be unusual. The band started in 2003. The original members are as is its current lineup: J. Lantern -guitars/keyboards, A. Ghoul - drums/keyboards, and H. Bowerz – bass/keyboards. In V N’s early days they recorded a demo, “the GIANT,” containing three tracks, two being present in new form on their current album ‘shadow valley.’ In those days it was a side project, and recording was the main focus. No shows were played. From 2005-2006, V N was fairly dormant. Lantern continued to write pieces for the band at this time, however Bowerz was busy with another project (Writhen), as well as Lantern and Ghoul (A Ghouls Lantern/Decayed AGL). In 2007-2008, Lantern and Ghoul – concentrating heavily on recording volumes of material for three separate bands – recorded VN’s first EP called, ‘Violent Skies,’ (‘07) and then a LP entitled, ‘A Tome of Thoughts’ (‘08). Those recordings were released in rare quantity. All members around 2009 -2011 were busy with other bands; among work and school. Again Lantern continued writing music for V N, but the project lay dormant. 2012 brought V N back together fully. The band found a practice spot, and made recording a full length album a priority. ‘Shadow Valley,’ just released by V-Jolt Records, is 2013’s Violet Natroon. The new release features many new tracks, and a few older pieces from the group’s repertoire. Frequently asked is: “What does that band name mean?” Natrun [nuh-troon] is a valley in ancient Egypt, Violet is a color... When asked what style V N is, one simply cannot answer. Words do not describe. The only unfalse statement can be: instrumental. Each track is unlike the next. In truth, it is a fusion of many elements. The main focus of the band is to temporarily take you, yes you, to another place for a while.
