简介
For their 20th release, “Chicago Paris Connection” Fresh Meat present one new edit and several re-issued and out-of-print remixes of two classic Mazi and (David) Duriez tracks. They started Fresh Meat, so this is the best way to commemorate the occasion. "Chicago, A Wake Up Call" and "This Is Not A Follow-Up" were banging acid house heaters when released in 2006. Both have been unavailable for some time, and never with the Wasted Chicago Youth edit of "...Wake Up Call". WCY (Mazi & Justin Long) have new material in the pipeline for Fresh Meat, Jay Haze's Tuning Spork, and Justin's .dotbleep. For their "Flashback" the two Chi-town natives smash together a proper new acid extravaganza in the tradition of Gerkin Jerks or Trax Records! WCY's nine minute and nine second work-out extracts every bit of bubbling groove from the original, adding an extended arrangement, live percussion and analog effects (with programming assistance by Nathan Drew Larsen). Included from the original release is Phonogenic’s (Tuomas Salmela) timely regroove of "Chicago..." This essential remix keeps the original mostly intact, with Tuomas adding characteristically subtle percussion and a different bass line, among some other vibey new elements. The T5 Mix of "This Is Not A Follow-Up" is the best selling track from the FMR album "When Bad People Cook Good Food” so for heads, this reissue includes all three out-of-print Peace Division remixes. These versions lay the foundation for Clive Henry and Justin Drake’s recent mid-tempo productions on 8bit, Tsuba, and Crosstown Rebels. For these brilliant reworks, Peace Division's contemporary sound is anchored by only a swing and instrumentation that strongly evoke Chicago’s timeless backroom vibe. The Peace Division Instrumental is a must-have, letting the sublime bumpin' groove come into focus perfectly.
