简介
In the late 60's Laurie was a part of the Michigan garage punk scene in Pitche Blende. Now a seasoned performer with previous "claim to fame" with The Buckinghams, The Mamas and the Papas. Gary Puckett and veteran member of the Happy Together Tour of 1985, Laurie Beebe Lewis releases this EP with husband Chuck Lewis at the helm. Producer Warren Huart came in later to bring the music to the next level on the album by adding some fabulous musicians (Tony Franklin on Bass, Tim Pierce on Guitar, Phil Allen on Drums and Alejandro Rivas on Piano/Keys (with exception of Phillip "Jay Jay" Lim on Baby Birds) and using his unique production style on "Throw It All Away" which is quite different than her first release of this song in 2011. "Baby Birds", the title track of the album, includes the beautiful flowing piano of Phillip "Jay Jay" Lim, stacatto "chirping" of the birds in the strings and the rich lyrics of redemption and love. The sudden change of mood with the screaming guitar solos from guitarist Roni Lee on Superstition (and California Dreamin") this album (EP) goes from 0 to 100 with over 30 minutes of well arranged and edgy perfromances by some of the best musicians of our time. California Dreamin' is Laurie's legacy song from her seven year stint singing in The Mamas and the Papas (1986-1993) and her "black water blues" song "Sorrows" (loosly adapted by a 17 century hymn) features Alicia Previn on violin and has all the elements of style, versitility and originality. All in all, this EP is as ecclectic and exciting as Laurie Beebe Lewis, herself. She sings almost every style of music and no one can put her in any one genre or catagory. Spiritual in nature, each song carries a message from her heart to your soul.
