8 years ago, I started to sing (in front of people, not just in my shower). 3 years ago I picked up a guitar. Today, I have my first EP complete. Seems a bit crazy for me, almost surreal (but oh so cool!) I write music that directly affects me and comes from my personal experiences; experiences that I feel that other people can relate to both me and my music (oh love, how it sucks sometimes). I have a hard time defining the genre of my music. Some say it's Folk. Some say it's Pop. Some say it's Country. Some say it's Indie. Some say it's even got a little flare of Rock. So I like to say my EP is a mixture of a lot of genres. I've been influenced by many: Patsy Cline, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Meiko, Bob Marley, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Cure, James Taylor, Carole King, Johnny Cash, The Judds, Lady Gaga, Nirvana, Nicki Minaj, The Pretenders, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sheryl Crow, Steve Miller Band, the list goes on. My favorite musical memories are singing duets as a youngster with my mom to The Judds in her car, learning to roll my r's to Gloria Estefan's "Rhythm's Gonna Get You," road-tripping with my family listening to everything from The Eagles to The B52's to ZZ Top and getting "lessons" from my uncle about the meaning of Bob Dylan's classics.
