I knew he was going to do it tough in his life and it inspired me to write the song. Shortly after writing it, he was savagely attacked and killed. My guess he was too threatening to the "straight" guys out there. I'm determined that his memory lasts longer than of those now behind bars. Live and let live is my creed.
