The foot-stompin' indie rock band Not A Planet releases their sophomore effort, Smoke Bombs & Cigarettes: The History Of Now (9/9/16), following up 2013's The Few, The Proud, The Strange LP. The Kansas City quartet has released a music video for "Tell the Truth," the first single from the EP, and a lyric video for "The World We Know." The East Coast indie sound of "Tell the Truth" incorporates a 60's pop flare with a slick hook and crunching guitars. "There is a place deep inside each person where we go to discover someone unstoppable, superhuman," says vocalist/guitarist Nathan Corsi. "'Tell the Truth' is about going to that place." "Tell the Truth" is available, temporarily, as a free download to fans who sign-up for the band's mailing list. "The World We Know," says Corsi, "is a tongue in cheek 'State of the Union' and commentary on our culture's proneness and desire for violence, drama, and distraction. We tried to encapsulate the tension musically with very restrained verses and an explosive, frantic climax in the chorus. It's almost like going through news cycles and waiting for the next tragedy or atrocity. The pressure just builds until suddenly, it bursts."
