简介

Singer-songwriter, artist, musician, teacher, and surfer, Terry Low has lived on the island of Kauai since 1994. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the sixties, Terry was influenced by and had the opportunity to see live performances by the legendary rock, blues, and folk musicians of the that era; the music of Bob Dylan being the single most influential of that era and those to follow. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971, Terry served as a conscientious objector stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. Conscientious objectors to the Viet Nam War, who went into the military, went through a special boot camp without guns before joining the regular Army for training as medics. Following this training, soldiers were sent to military bases around the world, including battlefield assignments in Viet Nam. After the military, Terry attended and graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara and continued to live and work in the Santa Barbara area through 1978. Jazz, art, and poetry became increasing interests there. Kenneth Rexroth, Tom Soule, Arthur Lynip, Steve Shelton, John Ensign, Claire Rabe, Bill Murphy, Randy Tico, and Jeff Eliott were strong literary, musical, and artistic influences from the Santa Barbara area. During the eighties and early nineties, Terry ran a screen-printing and graphic arts studio in Benicia California, with Windsurfing as a sideline. Terry left Benicia in 1994 to work as an educator on Kauai. While on Kauai, Terry’s focus on music and songwriting led to the release of “Hand-Me-Downs” in July 2007.
