Like a meticulously sculpted marble masterpiece, "Puente" (in Mandarin Chinese, "changqiao," or "long bridge") showcases aboriginal Taiwanese musicianship at its finest. Puente is a project by Raphael Lee, aka Lee Shou Hsin, one of Taiwan's foremost studio percussionists. Having spent several decades recording and touring with Taiwan's top pop and jazz musicians, Lee embarked on this highly personal project with a newfound passion. He wrote all eight compositions on this album, drawing from his Bunan and Atayal roots to create a uniquely modern interpretation of Taiwanese indigenous music.
