Singer-songwriter Paul Calhoun is one of country’s finest – reminiscent of classic-country artists from yesteryear with a modern twist and lots of musical range. He also is an actor, who stars as himself in the feature film Blue Sunset. “Hoooooon” grew up in the Midwest and became a connoisseur of country music as a teenager living in Michigan. He was influenced by the great Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Roger Miller, Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Porter Wagoner, Marty Robbins, Gary Stewart, Joe Stampley, Eddie Rabbitt, Faron Young, Keith Whitley, Vern Gosdin, Buck Owens, Steve Wariner and many others. His love of bluegrass blossomed in his latter-teen years as he became a fan of Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, the Osborne Brothers, Jim and Jesse, Ralph Stanley and many others. Paul Calhoun enjoys many kinds of music and has always been a long-time fan of Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Bob Seger, the Everly Brothers, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Jim Croce, John Denver, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, the Guess Who and ZZ Top.
