简介
Take a minute to imagine what it means to live free. There is no telling where each road leads, or anyone telling you how its done and all lessons learned are strictly through experience. The thought alone paints a perfect picture. In search of what it means to live free, Redway has had his share of shortcomings. Whether it is the good, the bad or the ugly he still chooses to celebrate them all. In doing so, he is able to embed his story in his lyrics forcing you to listen to its authentic content. His music has the ability to take you places while leaving room for self discovery and reflection. A place where oncoming traffic is unpredictable but the journey is worth every minute. Born Shane Redway on April 11th, 1989 to parents of Caribbean decent who raised him on Reggae and Gospel music; a genre known for its soft sound and powerful messages, would later serve as the foundation to his artistry. At the tender age of eleven years old, he began playing the drums and eventually started recording in a friend’s bedroom on a daily basis. He eventually joined a local rap group called Sheridan Entertainment which sparked a greater love for the music. Fast forward several years later and he still posses the same hunger he once did as a child. Over the past two years, he has managed to create a large following of fans who anticipate the release of new music religiously. Redway’s resume highlights a number of successes from shows with Casey Veggies, Juelz Santana as well as hitting the studio with Wiz Khalifa and legendary Dancehall artist Beenie Man just to name a few. Not to mention, his last mixtape Border Livin, proved to be a success with 13K downloads and counting. More recently he was spotted on www.HustleGrl.com’s 7 Toronto New School Artists to look out for in 2012. Redway held the #5 song on Toronto’s popular radio station Flow 93.5’s Mega City Countdown. To date he has worked with a number of producers such as Juno Award recipient Beat Merchant, Grammy Nominated producer Boi-1da, Rich Kidd and Wonda Girl. On route to fulfilling his passion, Redway took the time out to finesse his skills. After a lengthy stay in New York, he worked towards building from the ground up. He is not to be mistaken for a rapper that came up overnight. His love for the music runs skin deep. It is no question that he has grown from these experiences and is ready to show the world literally what it means to live free. As Redway prepares to drop his latest project titled Live Free with each track detailing a part of his life there is no doubt that the release will top the rest. Redway references some of the greats as his source of inspiration while leading into a Biggie verse from his unforgettable song Sky’s the Limit. “A ni**a never been as broke as me, I like that When I was young I had two pair of Lees, besides that The pin stripes and the gray (uh-huh) The one I wore on Mondays and Wednesdays”. These bars speak volumes. Growing up he owned very little but was able to get by. He always knew that the struggle was real especially coming from some of the artists he looked up to. For Redway, the sky is not the limit. Matter of fact, above the sky there is no limit.
