简介
Meet Abbe Lewis-- a 23-year-old world-traveling singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN. Quirky and passionate, this red-headed pianist/guitarist's life is devoted to faith and adventure. Of course it was almost inevitable that music would become a seamless part of Abbe's life; she was born to a songwriter, and grew up singing with her two sisters in a family trio. In the words of the singer herself, "I play music becasue it is all I know to do with myself. I'm hoping that it entertains as well as blesses others." Abbe's sound has often been likened to a female Death Cab For Cutie, or something that you'd hear on the same Pandora station as Regina Spektor, Eisley, or Leigh Nash. In any case, it's indie folk-pop at its raw, organic finest. Her first EP "The Birthday Party" was recorded in 2010 before she moved to Hungary. This mostly light-hearted collection of songs features Abbe's epic, soul-felt melodies intertwined with the kind humming of a cello, and other tastefully placed musical delicacies. Upon her return to Tennessee in fall of 2012, she endured a long-distance break up, while simultaneously battling a mean case of counter-culture shock. As hard times often do, these obstacles inspired songs that led to the completion of Abbe's second album "Familiar Shape" (Summer 2013). Not surprisingly, Hungary, its language, and culture have found a permanent place in Abbe's heart. "Familiar Shape" is the setting for a deep, exposed view of her feelings, bringing to light the many beautiful and also heart breaking things she experienced while living there. But it's not all love, loss, and heartbreak. Abbe admits, "Some of the songs have funny back stories. 'Brown Umbrella' was really just inspired by my umbrella breaking while I was walking into Kroger." Abbe plans to take "Familiar Shape" on the road, so if you'd like her to perform in your town, contact her at LewisAbbe@Gmail.com.
