简介
From singing on her Grandmother's porch when she was a child to playing lead roles in her university's musicals and operas, Audrey Drake has had a taste of many genres. While studying vocal performance at Plymouth State University in up state NH Audrey learned that the classical techniques she studied were applicable to all areas of music. After graduating with her BA Audrey took a break from the riggers of classical singing and bought her first guitar, a 35 year old Takamine. It didn't take long for her to begin telling her stories with the help of that old guitar. Soon she was playing local open mics and studying other musicians who have influenced her style such as Patty Griffin, Lori McKenna, Sarah McLachlin, Tracy Chapman and other local artists. In 2002 Audrey moved to Boulder, CO where she continued to connect with other songwriters and developed her songwriting abilities. She met Rebecca Abraxas and began a musical friendship that is still strong today. Audrey worked on creating her own musical style while studying guitar with Rebecca. After returning to NH Audrey had a strong desire to connect with her classical roots. She auditioned for the NH Master Choral and sang with them for the next four seasons. Today Audrey is performing her songs, Taylor in hand, and writing constantly. In March of 2008 she decided to take the plunge and quit her "day job" to pursue music full time. She hasn't looked back and just completed her first full length CD of original songs. These songs tell the story of Audrey's journey from her beginnings on the family farm to her successful solo artist career. They are heartfelt and soulful. Her songs immerse the listeners in her journey while her soothing, angelic voice delights their ears. "I often journey back in my mind to the house I grew up in, the house I got lost in opening iron latches and peeling paint off horsehair walls. A New England farm with acres of fields and trees to explore, with a barn so big my little eyes could not see around the big red doors which held up the sky. Where I came from holds as much mystery as where I am and where I am going to. I am bits and pieces of all who have touched me as I compose my story. As I turn each page and write each new line the mystery unfolds. This is my story, the story of my soul's journey."
