FONSEKA is singer/songwriter Rowena Fonseka who hails from Vancouver and has been a Torontonian for the last 5 years. After playing a small circuit of acoustic gigs in the city, she has just released her debut album REVEAL, which showcases a blend of rock, pop and folk sounds. FONSEKA is a proud recipient of a FACTOR Canada grant for this project. It is apparent to the listener that songwriting is very personal to FONSEKA. This is evident in the honesty and emotion that come through in the album tracks. Starting out with a handful of acoustic songs, FONSEKA and Producer Matt Gauthier of Attic Sound have worked to turn each song in the album into lush, guitar driven pieces reminiscent of such artists like Yukon Blonde, Echosmith and the Foo Fighters. The opening track Fire in My Heart is an upbeat pop/rock love song that is sure to turn into a summer time or road trip favorite. The album progresses with tracks varying in sounds and textures that have been two years in the making, reflecting relationships with family, loves and her own survival.
