Formed in the spring of 2009, Lobster are a reggae influenced punk band who have become a permanent fixture at Birmingham's live venues and punk shows. Bringing together a love for hip-hop, punk and many Jamaican music styles such as dub, reggae, roots, dancehall and ska the lobster sound system was born. They self released their first EP after recording at Hockley Street studios in Birmingham in March 2010 and distributed this for free at shows for about a year before heading to Toolshop Records in Selly Oak in early 2011 to record a new EP alongside fellow Birmingham ska band Mr Shankly. 2011 also saw Lobster entering the Surface Unsigned Battle Of The Bands where they reached the regional final playing Birmingham's 02 Academy main stage. Later into 2011 Lobster opened for a number of renowned bands in the UK ska and punk scenes (Drongos For Europe, Smoke like A Fish, Neck, [Spunge],Chinashop Bull etc) and continued to see an increase in the attendance at their shows and enthusiasm of the crowds at shows. In 2012 Lobster continued to play to more hyped up crowds, as well as playing in various cities outside of Birmingham such as Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Derby and Worcester. In May they released their new DIY EP, "Not For A Cause"; throwing a party with a number of other bands from the UK scene to launch it. Lobster were also fortunate enough to share the stage with bands such as The Beat, Roddy Radiation and the Skabilly Rebels and Subhumans, as well as playing their first festival. Lobster have been polluting the airwaves with their lyrical reggae vibrations having air play on California/UK station Punk Britannia & BBC Introducing. Lobster have also been featured a number of times in the ska music magazine Do The Dog. 2013 has been another great year so far, adding 'Major Scale' to the line up on lead guitar and having just released their album 'Babby Inna Babylon' .
